Dr. John Nelson is from Columbia, South Carolina. He studied at the prestigious W. J. Keenan Junior High in the seventh grade (The next academic year he was in the band). His art commonly features landscapes and cityscapes, especially scenes from South Carolina and the Southeast, as well as Europe, many of these based on his travels. He spent way too long in graduate school, finally landing a job as the Curator of the Herbarium at the University of South Carolina. He is often seen on Clemson University’s “Making it Grow!”  series on SCETV,  in which he is known the “The Mystery Doctor with the Mystery Plant.” He is particularly fond of working with watercolor, charcoal, and acrylics.
